Heavy Metal comes to anime
This Thursday, a new episode of the animated adaptation of Dandadan premiered. Being episode 6, it marked the finish line at the midpoint of the season, and it has been noticed on social media. This new installment continues with the problem of Jiji and being possessed by the Evil Eye. Following the line of the last episode, Momo, Okarun, Aira, Turbo Grandma, and Seiko are the ones who find themselves facing the threat that the demon controlling Jiji is becoming increasingly difficult to control. While trying to resolve the situation, a group of four people arrive and will leave what went viral on social media.
This is the fictional band HAYASii, a group hired by Seiko to help with Jiji's exorcism. In the episode, they give a concert with a Heavy Metal-style song that quickly surprised fans. The sound and visuals are of the highest quality. This is because HAYASii's vocalist is played by Marc Hudson, real-life vocalist of the famous band Dragonforce. Additionally, at the end of the episode, we finally see Momo dressed as a maid, which is why many loved this new episode.

Dandadan has the following description:
Dandadan is a supernatural action series that blends comedy, romance, and paranormal phenomena at a breakneck pace. The story follows Momo Ayase, a girl who believes in ghosts but not aliens, and Okarun, a boy who believes in aliens but not in spirituality. After a bet, the two explore the unknown and find themselves caught up in a series of paranormal events that challenge their understanding of the world. The dynamic between the protagonists and their personal growth drive a narrative where the absurd and the epic constantly collide.
Dandadan was created by Yukinobu Tatsu and began serialization in April 2021 in Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ magazine. Its visual style is notable for its fluid drawing, extreme expressiveness, and intense action scenes. The manga quickly gained popularity and was nominated for several awards, including the Next Manga Awards. An anime adaptation produced by Science SARU was announced in 2024, scheduled to premiere in October 2024. The manga's genre combines action, comedy, romance, and supernatural elements, with influences from both Japanese folklore and science fiction.
