Akane-banashi Synopsis:
Rakugo is a traditional Japanese storytelling form that requires years of study and practice for an apprentice to master it and achieve the prestigious rank of shinuchi. Since she was a child, Akane Ousaki has felt a deep admiration for her father Tooru's rakugo performances. Hidden behind a sliding door, she would spend hours silently observing him, memorizing every gesture, every pause, every nuance of his voice.
For Tooru, there's only one step left to reach the coveted rank: a promotion test in front of an audience and a higher-ranking master, Issho Arakawa. However, despite his dedication on stage, Tooru fails the exam and is expelled from the rakugo school. Defeated, he completely abandons the art he loves and resigns himself to an ordinary life, leaving Akane heartbroken.
Filled with pain, rage, and helplessness, Akane decides to avenge the injustice committed against her father and prove the value of her legacy. She begs Tooru's former teacher, Shiguma Arakawa, to accept her as his disciple. But Shiguma, scarred by past mistakes, is hesitant to take on a new student. Still, to test her resolve, he challenges her to stand on stage and perform in front of an audience.
