One Piece fans, you are probably wondering why episode 1117 was postponed. Let's find out together the reasons behind this setback in the broadcast of your favorite anime.

One Piece is going through a period of notable transformations. Among these, one of the most notable events concerns the much-loved character of Sabo. Following accusations of inappropriate conduct towards a fan, the original voice actor, Toru Furuya, had to step down. It is now Miyu Irinoan actor renowned for his performances in Spirited Away (Haku) and Kingdom Hearts (Sora), who takes over the role.
This change is in itself a difficult adjustment for fans, who have long been accustomed to Furuya's voice. A transition episode is therefore necessary to allow a better acceptance of this new voice.
Do not exceed the pace of the manga
Another crucial factor behind this postponement is the need for the anime not to catch up too quickly with the manga. The author, Eiichiro Oda, releases his chapters at a steady pace, but not fast enough for the anime to keep up without taking breaks.
To avoid being too close to the original material, the Toei Animation often chooses to insert filler episodes or take breaks. These moments of respite allow Oda to continue his story without the constant pressure of a television adaptation sticking too closely.
The role of fillers in the transition
Filler episodes are often frowned upon by fans, but they play a vital role in the adaptation of a popular manga. By slowing down the pace of the anime, they also provide moments of respite and sometimes add additional elements to the universe of One Piece.
- Diversity of narrative arcs : Fillers introduce additional story arcs that enrich the universe.
- Time for fans : They give viewers time to get acquainted with new aspects or changes, such as Sabo's voice.
