Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror Is Now Going To Be Released

On the official website for the television station Adult Swim A new promotional video was revealed for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Junji Ito“Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror“. The video confirms again that the premiere is scheduled for next September 28th in both Adult Swim as in streaming services a day later (HBO Max).

Although the series is confirmed with only four episodes, it has been delayed on a number of occasions. Originally scheduled for release in 2020, it was pushed back to 2021, then to October 2022, and then indefinitely to June 2022.

Production team

Hiroshi Nagahama (Mushishi, Aku no Hana, Detroit Metal City, THE REFLECTION WAVE ONE) is in charge of directing the anime at the studios Drive.
Aki Itami (Mushishi, Fruits Basket, Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to THE ANIMATION, Aku no Hana) is responsible for writing and supervising the scripts.
Colin Stetson (Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), Among the Stars (2022), Color Out of Space (2020)) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.
The studies Production IG USA and the programming block Adult Swim is co-producing this adaptation.

Synopsis of Uzumaki

In the town of Kurouzu-cho, Kirie Goshima lives a relatively normal life with her family. However, one day while walking to the station to meet her boyfriend, Shuuichi Saito, she notices her father staring at a snail shell in an alley. Without giving it much thought, Kirie tells Shuuichi about the situation, to which Shuuichi replies that his father has also been acting very strange. Shuuichi also reveals his desire to escape the village with Kirie, claiming that people have become obsessed with the spirals. But his father's obsession soon turns deadly, starting a chain of horrifying and inexplicable events.
