Bad news for fans of Japanese animation. Crunchyroll, the leading streaming platform for anime, has just increased its prices. This is an opportunity to take stock of the available offers.

The biggest anime streaming service is hiking its prices, and it stings

It's a fact, legal streaming keeps getting more expensive. Netflix has now made a habit of increasing its prices and its peers, whether it's Prime Video, Disney+ or Apple TV, don't hesitate to imitate it. So much so that for many viewers, there is now only one service, and they have to take the time to choose the right one. Except, perhaps, anime fans.

Indeed, the latter generally turn to Crunchyroll, the reference platform in the field, to watch all their favorite anime legally. However, the latter could boast of having maintained its prices since 2019, which, in the streaming landscape, is simply a miracle. But a miracle that will not have lasted long. In a recent press release, the service also announced an increase in its prices.

Crunchyroll Gives In To Temptation And Raises Its Prices

Both of Crunchyroll's plans are getting a price increase. Here's how much it will now cost you to subscribe to the service:

  • Fan Subscription: €5.99/month
  • Mega Fan Subscription: €7.99/month (or €79.99/year, i.e. 16% discount)

This second formula offers very interesting advantages, especially if you share it with friends and family. Indeed, the Mega Fan offer allows you to view content on up to 4 different screens, in addition to benefiting from an offline mode that allows you to download the episodes of your choice. In addition, the offer gives access to Crunchy Vault, a catalog of free games.

“The price increase reflects the increase in content on the platform in recent years, expanding its catalog with more than 45,000 episodes across 1,400 series and movies. This means that it would take almost two years to watch everything on Crunchyroll.”writes the platform. As a reminder, Crunchyroll should soon arrive in the Prime Video catalog for a few additional euros, although the option is not yet available in France.
