Back in 2018, Dwango and Honda launched a fairly curious project: An application called “Osoba”, where Hatsune Miku spoke to you depending on how you drove your car. To give more style to the matter, They hired Kentaro Yabuki, the author of “To Love-Ru”, to make a special design For the vocaloid.

The plan was to use its illustration in a Honda S660 thematized with Hatsune Mikuy also in an enako cosplay, who to date remains the most famous cosplayer in Japan. In addition, all this was exhibited together at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2019, with everything and photo session included. Everything sounds very nice, but there was a problem: Kentaro Yabuki does not know how to draw without a fan service.
From the beginning, they told Yabuki to maintain the “within the decent” design, because the car was going to walk in the street and did not want the public to be shocked. The author accepted the challenge and tried to make a more futuristic and pretty Hatsune Miku, but simply could not ignore his background of “To Love-Ru.”

In his own comment, Yabuki explained how he found a way to continue showing skin without breaking the rules that stipulated him: «The jacket is mandatory … but it is transparent. The shoulders cannot be shown … but the armpits!». The result was a Hatsune Miku that, although “moderate”, continued to have that spicy touch.
In the end, the collaboration was a success and the fans gladly received this new version of Hatsune Miku, even becoming a very well -quoted official figure. Although the application did not last long, it was clear that if you give pencil and paper to Yabuki, it will somehow end up doing something very sensual.
