Popular voice actress Sumire Uesaka surprised her followers by officially opening the maid cafe “Twilight Rouge – Produced by Sumire Uesaka” in Tokyo. This new space, decorated as “a school for elegant and refined future vampires,” is a dream come true for the artist and a must-see corner for otakus in Japan.

Sumire Uesaka, known for roles such as Hayase Nagatoro in “Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san” and Alisa Kujou in “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian”took on the role of “student president” at this themed cafe. At a conference, she explained that The location represents the common room of an academy in the underworld, accessible through a secret door in the human world. Thus, the clients are treated as “senpai”, since the narrative suggests that the clients are graduate students of this peculiar school.

And the surprises do not end here, as Uesaka revealed that he always wanted to work in a themed cafe. Although she never had part-time jobs (perhaps because she never had the need), she dreamed of being a maid when she was a student. Now, after a prolific career as a voice actress, she was presented with the opportunity to combine acting and her love of drinks (especially whiskey and vodka).
In the cafeteria, no details were spared, from the design of the space, with a uniquely shaped bar, to the huge screens for karaoke and events, everything bears the personal stamp of the voice actress. Even the menu has special touches, from a selection of whiskeys and vodkas that she oversaw: «There is no other themed cafe with such a variety of vodkas. My personal recommendation is Zubrowka (…) I want anyone to be able to come without fear. It is a place to enjoy with confidence, especially if you love anime and seiyuus but are not familiar with these types of places.», he commented.
Meanwhile, the cafe is already accepting reservations for its pre-opening period, from January 24 to 31, but with a special condition: only members of the Sumire Uesaka fan club will be able to attend, plus one companion. The grand opening will be held later, specifically on February 6, and although the voice actress will not directly serve customers, her followers will be able to enjoy activities such as anime marathons and dialogue readings. Can this business survive in a space as competitive as Tokyo?
