‘Tower of God‘ reaches the halfway point of its second season, showing us that everything has changed from what we knew at the beginning of the story, but the objective and path of our protagonist hopes to end up crossing paths with those with whom he started and who, currently, without them knowing it, is defending them from a terrible threat. Bam, the protagonist of the work, is now known as Jue Viole Grace, and after a few first chapters in which he is introduced to us under this appearance as well as to the rest of the characters with whom he now forms a group, among whom Ja Wangnam stands out for his charisma, who ends up knowing the truth and history behind Viole/Bam.
With all this on the table, chapter seven presents us with one of the most anticipated moments by the followers of the manwha. Which one? The confrontation against Urek Mazinoone of the most powerful and brilliant characters in the entire Tower of God, a figure so prominent that he is capable of putting the entire established system in a tight spot on his own.
A world in ‘Tower of God’ that never stops growing
The confrontation between Bam and Urek is as brief as it is forceful, with the former putting his own well-being first to save one of his companions. It is then that Urek, seeing their sacrifice, allows them to leave thanks also to having found a baby of Zygaenathe enormous being they are in, with one of the flowers on its torso. A detail that will completely break the economy and how some noble families are taking advantage of a being that could procreate and live in greater abundance.
Urek leaves, and the anime leaves us with a scene that doesn’t appear in the comic, with the powerful character realizing that he has a cut on his face, one made by Bam. It is then that he remembers the confrontation and a huge giant red skeleton that appears behind him, one of the reasons why FUG, the dangerous criminal syndicate, is so interested in the protagonist. A constant threat, with one of its members and Viole’s superiors talking to Ja Wangnam and advising him to abandon his partner for the good of his group. The reason? Viole/Bam will never give up or take a step back, and any exam he fails will mean the death of one of his friends from the original group that we met in the first season. A compelling reason why in this chapter he faced Urek Mazino without hesitation, and with a future threat within FUG like Karaka, who is presented to us in the final moments of the episode.
The enormous potential of ‘Tower of God’
‘Tower of God’ is along with ‘Solo Leveling’ one of the most popular manhwa in history, a work that has managed to put South Korea on the map of oriental comics and animation. After a first season that placed us throughout 13 chapters in a story that was only just beginning, the middle of season 2 places more and more cards on the table and continues to surprise the viewer with a world full of possibilities, characters, institutions and powerful families that together make the wonderful and terrifying ‘Tower of God’ possible.
How long will the animated adaptation last? The second season of ‘Tower of God’ will again have 13 episodes, and the material available from Crunchyroll is huge to continue making seasons. Let’s hope that the production of these will be done in less time than the wait between the end of the first and the premiere of the second. The potential of the anime is immense and chapter after chapter continues to confirm it.
