It's been two years since the long-awaited sequel to “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling)”but to date, there has been no official update on the project. Despite the excitement that this announcement generated among fans, CloverWorks, the studio in charge of producing the anime, has kept this promised sequel completely silent, while they continue to work on other projects. In fact, a live-action series based on the work will premiere next month, which will even cover parts of the story beyond what was adapted in the first season of the anime.

The lack of information about the sequel has caused concern among fans of the franchise, who have been patient but are beginning to lose hope. “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” has become one of the most beloved and popular works since its premiere in January 2022. The series stood out not only for the chemistry between its protagonists, but also for its high-quality animation and its fresh approach to topics such as cosplay and costume making. The combination of endearing storytelling, moments of humor, and a hefty dose of fan service allowed the series to achieve great popularity both in Japan and abroad.

However, the delay in the sequel's production has sparked speculation and frustration in the community. Recently, a leak surfaced claiming that CloverWorks would be resuming the project after concluding work on “The Elusive Samurai,” a series currently airing. While this news has brought some hope, there is no official confirmation from the studio, leaving fans in an uncertain situation.

Why is it taking so long?

One of the reasons behind the delay could be the workload that CloverWorks is facing, as the studio has been involved in multiple high-profile productions in recent years. The pace of work and high demand for quality could be slowing down the production of the sequel to “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru.” Additionally, CloverWorks may want to make sure it maintains the level of animation that was so highly praised during the first season, which could be taking longer than expected.

The prolonged delay in the sequel's production could have negative effects on the franchise. One of the main risks is the loss of interest on the part of fans, especially in a market where each season brings new series that capture the public's attention. Additionally, with the live-action premiere approaching, there's a chance that fans' focus could shift away from the animated version, especially if the live-action adaptation surpasses the series in terms of faithfulness or story length.

It is crucial that CloverWorks or those responsible for the project offer some kind of official update as soon as possible.as keeping the audience in the dark only fuels uncertainty and speculation. Fans have proven to be loyal and patient, but two years without news is a considerable period for such a successful franchise.
