Unbeatable is a gorgeous, hand-drawn rhythm adventure game inspired by Japanese animation. Discover what it means to be a runaway band – music is illegal in this world, but that won’t stop you. Follow Beat and his band through an introspective adventure that mixes live shows, spectacular tracks, and fun rhythm challenges.
Explore a richly detailed open world and engage in branching conversations with a variety of unique characters. The game features a 100% original soundtrack, as well as guest tracks and musical collaborations.
After announcing the game this summer with a memorable track, “Memorize,” we’re excited to bring you a brand new track on the PlayStation Blog.
Introducing “Future People”
How do we create new songs like this? Well, let's ask Clara!
Has anyone seen Clara?
Oh, there she is!
“Hello, hello! I’m Clara! I focus primarily on writing the music for Unbeatable. Since the game’s music is tied to the narrative, the sound team paid special attention to making the music as emotional as possible.
For me, I try to find personal experiences that flow into the piece of the story I'm composing for. Before a piece takes shape, I spend most of my time looking for a connection between the two, but once I find it, it's much easier to connect with a character and tap into what they might be thinking.
Sometimes I'll just create a song to understand certain emotions and all of a sudden, oops, it's a song for Unbeatable because we found a way to tie it to the story. I hope the songs will have even more meaning!”
– Clara Maddux, Composer & Musician, D-Cell Games
You see! Clara knows what she's talking about.
But Unbeatable isn’t just about cranking up the tempo and shredding through tracks – it’s about getting you into the groove. New song “Future People” proves that, with a slower, more melodic track that further expands the game’s incredible soundtrack. This track isn’t just versatile, it forces you to rethink the way you play rhythm games. Who says rhythm games are all about speed and no soul? With “Future People,” it’s all about getting you in the zone and savoring every note.
That's not to say you can't spice things up; increasing the difficulty will keep you on your toes (and possibly get you into trouble).
But remember, playing on normal mode is not a problem; we are not here to judge, but to make you shake your head and feel something.
The world beats in rhythm
In Unbeatable, music isn’t just a soundtrack – it’s the lifeblood of the world. As Beat, the game’s tireless protagonist, you don’t just move through the city – you’re completely in sync with the underground rhythms that defy the silence imposed by the no-fun-allowed regime. The world around you isn’t just an echo of the music; it pushes you forward, like a rebel marching band that refuses to be silenced.
Feel the beat
Want special features? Here are special features! Feel the city's heartbeat in your hands with the DualSense controller's haptic feedback. You can literally keep your finger on its pulse while you play for even more 🎶Immersion🎶.
Adaptive triggers will also play a role in some minigames, making you feel like you're truly part of the resistance.
This is just a taste of what we have planned for Unbeatable, so keep your eyes peeled for more news.
Unbeatable will be released on PS5 in 2025.
