Middle-earth is coming back to the big screen, in animation! This new feature film, Middle-earth comes to life with The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrimis directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex).
The pitch:
Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a cunning and ruthless Dunean lord seeking to avenge his father's death, forces Helm and his people into a daring final stand at the ancient fortress of Hornburg—a mighty citadel that would later be known as Helm's Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Helm's daughter Hera must muster the courage to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy determined to destroy them utterly.
The film is produced by Philippa Boyens, Jason DeMarco and Joseph Chou, with executive production by Fran Walsh, Peter Jackson, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood and Toby Emmerich.
The animation is handled by the studio Sola Digital Arts (Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045, Blande Runner: Black Lotus).
Scheduled for release in theaters in December 2024.
