After closing ‘Naruto’ definitively, Masashi Kishimoto He hasn’t strayed too far from the world of manga. His great work ended in 2014, but in the following years he worked on several short stories, a new manga, and supervised ‘Boruto’ until in 2020 he decided to become the main scriptwriter.
Time to get back in the game
So even though Kishimoto hasn’t retired, It hasn’t really managed to stray too far from the ‘Naruto’ universe or have any success outside of it.His big attempt was in 2019 with ‘Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru’, but his new series did not even make it to a year of publication and was not as well received as its predecessor.
It seems things are changing for Kishimoto, and especially now that Boruto is on a very long hiatus, he’s ready to take on a new series. The mangaka hasn’t given any specific details or a possible date, but in a recent interview the mangaka has hinted that he’s already working on something.
Kishimoto attended a fan event held in Paris together with ‘Boruto’ artist Mikio Ikemoto, and when it was his turn to talk about his life Kishimoto replied that He is currently giving his full attention to two things: his family and a new job.
The creator of ‘Naruto’ said he has found a new motivation thanks to “spending quality time with family and friends”which had now also become a priority. And thanks to this new energy, Kishimoto says he is more open to the idea of creating a new manga.
It should not be ruled out that this new project is some kind of spin-off of ‘Naruto’, although perhaps Kishimoto has already completely healed his wounds.is ready to dive into a completely different project. Time will tell, and we’ll see if he finally decides to try to surpass himself.
