During a special event, a new promotional image was revealed for the upcoming short episode project of “Lycoris Recoil“, which will be titled “Lycoris Recoil: Friends are Thieves of Time“. The statement did not reveal a release date, but listed production details for each of these shorts, including those in charge:
- Episode 1: Shingo Adachi.
- Episode 2: Imigimuru.
- Episode 3: Shuu Mori.
- Episode 4: Yoshikazu Tominaga.
- Episode 5: Ken Yamamoto.
- Episode 6: Shingo Adachi.
This series of shorts will focus on the lives of the characters inside the LycoReco Cafeteria.
For its part, the anime “Lycoris Recoil” premiered during the season of Summer-2022 (July-September) in Japan and had a total of thirteen episodes, while the platform Crunchyroll was in charge of its distribution in the West. It quickly became one of the most successful franchises in the physical sales market, exceeding twenty thousand copies sold with each new release and becoming the series with the highest amount of accumulated sales in the first week of the entire year 2022.

- Muru Imigi (Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!, Make Heroine ga Oosugiru!) is in charge of character design.
- Asaura (Ben-To, TiN-So: Kimi ga Te ni Suru Ore no Ex Machina, Eiyuu Toshi no Bakadomo) was in charge of the original story.
- Kimika Onai (costume design by Nogizaka46, Sakurazaka46) was in charge of the design of the uniforms.
Synopsis of Lycoris Recoil
The number of terrorist acts in Japan has never been lower, thanks to the efforts of a syndicate called Direct Attack (DA). The organization raises orphaned girls as assassins to carry out assassinations under its “Lycoris” program. Takina Inoue is an exceptional Lycoris, with a strong sense of will and a penchant for perfection. Unfortunately, a hostage situation tests her patience, and the resulting act of insubordination results in her being transferred out of the DA. He’s not thrilled about losing the only place he belonged, but he reluctantly arrives at his new base of operations: LycoReco, a disguised coffee shop.
However, Takina’s new partner turns out to be very different from what she imagined. Despite being the famous prodigy of Lycoris, Chisato Nishikigi seems almost unconcerned about her obligations. He drags Takina into all kinds of odd jobs under the simple explanation of helping people in need. Takina is even more bewildered when Chisato takes down a group of armed assailants without killing any of them. Feeling like a fish out of water, Takina is determined to reintegrate into the DA, but Chisato is determined to show her that there is more to a life than just taking it.
