Last Saturday, the city of León, Guanajuato, witnessed an unusual wedding. Olaf Montaño and Natalia Alba, a couple passionate about cosplay and otaku culture, decided to seal their love with a theme based on the iconic series “Saint Seiya,” known in Latin America as The Knights of the Zodiac. The event was held at the Expiatory Temple of León, where Olaf characterized himself as Hades, King of the Underworld, and Natalia as Athena, the goddess of wisdom, in a ceremony that combined the solemnity of tradition with the love of anime.

The couple, who met at a cosplay expo in Mexico City in 2014, decided to take their relationship one step further with a themed wedding, paying tribute to a series that marked their childhood and that has continued to be part of their lives. During the ceremony, several of their friends also joined the celebration, dressed as characters such as Seiya of Sagittarius, Shion of Aries, and even Patriarch Arles, in what turned out to be a wedding that, without a doubt, left all those attending with his mouth open.
Natalia, known in the otaku community as Súh, expressed her excitement at having managed to combine her love for Saint Seiya with one of the most important days of her life: «This is part of who we are, we wanted our wedding to reflect our passion for cosplay and anime, something that has united us from the beginning», he shared. The couple had already celebrated their civil wedding some time ago, also in cosplay, but this time they wanted something special that included their closest friends and family.
The celebration continued at a reception where guests were surprised with the presence of Mauren Mendo, performer of the songs from “Los Caballeros del Zodiaco” for the anime in Spanish. Mendo not only gave them a mini concert, but also adapted the lyrics of the famous song “Pegasus Fantasy” for the occasion, starting the newlyweds' waltz with the song “Blue Dream”, the song that closed each episode of the show. series. This detail was a dream come true for the couple, who since childhood had imagined an event full of magic and nostalgia.
On social networks, the news of the themed wedding generated a wave of comments, with opinions divided between those who admired the couple's creativity and others who criticized the use of the temple for this type of ceremony.
- «No drug trafficker was going to dare to challenge so many superheroes gathered together.».
- «They say that after the event, the temple was fumigated».
- «Everyone can profess their religion as they please, respect».
- «Live your life and let others live theirs, no explanation needed, they are just being happy».
- «The strange thing is that the church has allowed that».
- «How much did they convince the father to let them in like that?».
- «I could perfectly put on my Shaka Armor and go without an invitation».
- «Clearly, Saori got married. Aioros witnessed».
Despite criticism, Olaf and Natalia's wedding has left a mark on Mexico's otaku community, showing how cosplay and otaku culture can transcend the realm of the personal and spiritual. For the couple, this wedding was more than a celebration of their love: it was a way to express what they have shared for a decade, both in their relationship and their passion for anime.
