A few months ago, we presented you with several moments where the anime Attack on Titan was censored for the needs of its broadcast on television. A common procedure during an animated adaptation, but which rarely pleases fans of the original manga. And precisely, speaking of Attack on Titananime fans have just learned that a movie is coming to theaters soon. We tell you everything.
Eren Jäger's strong return to the cinema
Among the most popular titles of the 2010s, Attack on Titan is certainly one of the most acclaimed works of recent yearsThe now cult manga by the equally famous Hajime Isayama has quickly become a must-read for shonen fans, a reputation that is largely due to the immense success of its animated adaptation launched in 2013.
And while the manga concluded in April 2021, the anime ended last November. with the second special episode of the third part of the Final Season, thus bringing to an end the epic and tragic saga of the famous Eren Jäger. The Final Season, produced by the famous MAPPA (which took over after WIT Studio), was divided into several parts, released between December 2020 and 2023.
And if you thought you were done with the Survey Corps, anime fans can rejoice after this recent announcement, as Attack on Titan is coming to theaters. Titled “The Last Attack,” the 2-hour, 25-minute film is set to hit theaters on November 8 in Japan.
The Last Attack should not only pick up the events of the last episodes of the Final Season (presumably the two special episodes that make up the third part), but also offer what are commonly called director's cuts, namely deleted scenes.
Even though the hype around Attack on Titan has clearly come down since the work was completed, it is easy to understand the interest in the theatrical release of a film when we see the incredible performances recently achieved by the cinema screenings of other very popular franchises, like Demon Slayer or even Haikyu!!. For now, we don't know yet if The Last Attack will benefit from an international release.
