The fall anime season has officially started, and boy were the studios saving the heavyweights of 2024 for this final quarter. These months, especially October, are going to be busy, but if we are fans of Science Saru The anime that has been in the spotlight all year is undoubtedly 'Dandadan'.
The manga of Yukinobu Tatsu It has been published since 2021 and has become one of the recent hits of Jump Comics+ and MANGA Plus. It was already incredibly popular, but the anime is certainly going to take 'Dandadan' one step further thanks to a fabulous adaptation.

Supernatural comedy, lots of action, and heart
Here we have Momoa slightly chony teenager disenchanted with the guys around her. One day he defends a classmate from his bullies, whom he nicknames “Okarun“, and they both begin a curious competition because she believes in ghosts and does not alienate them, and he does the opposite.
So they both begin to investigate places surrounded by paranormal rumors: a tunnel where a ghostly grandmother challenges you to an infernal race and a building surrounded by strange apparitions of aliens. And wow, It turns out that they are both somewhat right. and their lives change completely when they come into contact with the paranormal.
'Dandadan'gets to the point from the beginning, with a very good rhythm that introduces you to its protagonists wonderfully and you get the tone from the first moment. Momo and Okarun, despite how opposite they are, work wonderfully together, with an incredible chemistry that makes them complement each other from the first moment thanks to very well-measured humor.
If we want humor, we are going to have it, and to laugh at ease. And if we want action and a little bit of supernatural mischief (body horror included), there are also good doses between the exploration of urban legends and Japanese folklore. And yet, 'Dandadan' knows how to intersperse the slightly more dramatic moments so that you get to know the protagonists, with those of absolute madness.
Science Saruthe studio behind 'Scott Pilgrim Takes the Leap' and 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!', has been in charge of the animation and it shows that they have put all their effort into it: frenetic sequences, neon colors, lots of action and tremendously expressive animation. The studio has already accustomed us to some great work, and with 'Dandadan' they are showing off beautifully so that the level does not drop.
The first chapters have been a fabulous cover letter. Although you also have to know how to enter the game and it is very possible that certain humor does not sit well with some viewers. Because some scenes that are a little explicit (and that spend a bit of sexualizing their female protagonist) can hurt some sensitivities.
'Dandadan' arrives with a double premiere in Netflix and Crunchyrolland we will have a new episode every week on both platforms. And if it maintains the level so well, it promises to be one of the best anime series that we have seen lately.
