Community Muzzled After Crunchyroll's Decision
Generally, SVOD platforms are similar. However, they each manage to have their own identity and their own little specificities. So, when one of them disappears, it can disrupt the user experience somewhat, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Here, it is the interaction that is called into question.
In fact, Crunchyroll has discreetly disabled the comment space on the sheets of its various programs, but also on all of its services. The platform justifies itself in its FAQ section. It explains that it wants to give ” priority to creating a safe and respectful community environment ” This decision was therefore taken to avoid potentially negative comments.
Crunchyroll will therefore have preferred to limit the speech to the moderation of the comment space. This is certainly a saving of time and resources for the platform. Users will perhaps remember, in fact, comments demanding this or that program, the addition of the VF or the VO and, potentially, comments that are even less pleasant.
But overall, this feature was also an opportunity to share your love for series and films or to exchange with other users. Subscribers will always be able to express their appreciation via the rating system, which is maintained.
Some may not notice this new interface. But I'm not sure that those who used this space will see it in a good light. After the price increase, this could be a new reason for discontent among subscribers. At the same time, it is nice to see the platform's desire to guarantee a pleasant experience for its users.
