Studio Pierrot is taking things slowly and betting on quality rather than quantity when it comes to anime. One of its flagship projects right now is 'Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War', which is having annual releases so that the studio can give more care to each season.
The third part of the anime has been a long time coming, although In Pierrot it seems that they are going with all the weapons and have even had the supervision of the own Tite Kubo for the new chapters.
Expanding what is fair and necessary
We already knew that Kubo had been much more involved in these episodes, and it has also been confirmed that the third season of 'Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War' will include new scenes that we didn't see in the manga at the time. Although be carefulthey will not be “filler” but all will be canon and they will have their importance for history.
“With the supervision of master Kubo, we are drawing many original elements for the anime that were not in the original work,” explained Hikaru Murata, the anime's director, in an interview. To which producer Yoshihiko Tominaga added: “When we add original scenes, we are aware of what the fans want to see. (…) It is more difficult to produce than the scenes that were already in the original work, but we are very happy that the fans enjoy them.”
The inclusion of these new scenes (such as Hirako's bankai) is not done haphazardly. Kubo's approval is always being taken into account, as he usually points out his corrections or how he visualizes a specific scene.
“First, the production team sends a proposal to Master Kubo, and then we work out the details,” Tominaga explained. Masaki Hiramatsu, the main scriptwriter, also added, “When I write a scenario, even if it’s an original scene, I always write it down first before sending it to my master. And when I get feedback, he sometimes writes very clearly, ‘This is the image I have in my head. ’ For scenes where he already has something solid in mind, he gives me much more detailed feedback.”
Months ago, Kubo himself already warned that he was very actively reviewing the graphic part of the anime, including storyboards of complete scenesIn a few weeks we will see how the experiment has gone, because the next one October 5th 'Bleach' returns to Disney+, where we also have the original anime available to start Ichigo's story from the beginning.
