Total madness has been unleashed in the world of Type-Moonsince one of the original copies of the Doujinshi of “Kara no Kyoukai (The Garden of Sinners) ”, Written by Kinoko Nasu and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi In 1998, it was auctioned for an incredible amount of 5,001,000 yen (more than 32 thousand US dollars). That's right, more than 5 million yen for a book almost three decades ago.

For those who do not know, “Kara no Kyoukai” was Nasu's first great work, published long before Type-Moon existed as a company. At that time, the story was released as Doujinshi in the 1998 Comiket conventions, with a circulation of only ten copies. Of those, only six were sold, which makes this book a real treasure for collectors.

A few years ago a user on social networks discovered that he had one of these copies stored at home after having bought it years ago at an event without knowing how rare it would become. When he investigated and realized his value, he decided to get it for sale, and the rest is history. Since the auction appeared, Type-Moon fans entered a collective hysteria, and the comments were swift:
- «A sacred object has come to light».
- «With what this thing is, I could easily double its final price».
- «How much will this come?».
- «Honestly, if it were in the range of 3 or 4 million, I would buy it without hesitation … but I am the type of person who would not keep it well, so not better».
- «This will exceed 6 million, sure».
- «The Holy Grail of real life has already exceeded 3.5 million … How far will it go?».
- «The number of people who are following the auction is absurd. Everyone wants to see how much it arrives».
- «I would love to have it, but the price is crazy».
- «I went to see the auction and I already had 10 offers».
- «How much will this end …? Is it possible to exceed 10 million?».
But where are the other four copies? This is the question that everyone is asking. Of the six copies that were sold in 1998, we now know where two are (which was recently auctioned and the other user found a few years ago). And the other four? Are they still in Japan? Do you have an unknown collector? Are they forgotten in a dusty corner of a shelf?
With the price that this auction reached, it would not be uncommon for someone else to be encouraged to get another copy to the market. And if that happens … how much would they be willing to pay the most hardcore fans of Type-Moon? The only sure thing is that this sale already made history. Now we just have to wait to see if one day another of these relics appears again. Be attentive!
