MAPPA celebrates 15 years with new visual of Chainsaw Man's Reze
The study MAPPAresponsible for some of the most impressive animations of the last decade, celebrates its fifteenth anniversary this year, and it's doing it in a big way. The first of three special commemorative visuals has already been revealed, and it stars Reze, one of the most beloved characters in Chainsaw Man.
Fifteen years of MAPPA, celebrated with Chainsaw Man
This year marks the studio's 15th anniversary MAPPAone of the most influential animation houses in contemporary anime, responsible for productions that defined the last decade of the medium. To commemorate the date, the studio prepared a series of announcements and special content that will be progressively revealed through a website dedicated exclusively to the celebration.
Among the first ads of this campaign is a trio of new commemorative visuals, and the first of them is now available: an illustration starring Praythe enigmatic and fan-favorite antagonist of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
Who created Reze's new art
The new visual was illustrated by Shoichiwho served as animation director on the film. The creative process behind the piece included Misaki Nakano in the digital painting, Taichi Uchima in the background work, and Yusuke Tannawa as a composition artist, the same technical team responsible for the visual quality that characterized the film in theaters.
The studio confirmed that this is only the first of three visuals that will be revealed as part of the celebrations, which keeps the fandom's anticipation active in the coming weeks.
The team behind Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc
The film was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara in the studio MAPPAwith assistant direction by Masato Nakazono, script by Hiroshi Seko, character design by Kazutaka Sugiyama and music by Kensuke Ushio, the same composer behind acclaimed soundtracks in other recent Japanese animated productions.
The first season of the anime Chainsaw Manwhich originally aired between October and December 2022, was directed by Ryu Nakayamaalso in MAPPA. More recently, at the December 2025 Jump Festa, it was officially confirmed that the Assassins arc (Assassin's Arc) will also get its own animated adaptation, ensuring that the Denji universe will continue to expand for years to come.
What Reze's film is about
Based on the popular anime series, the film continues Denji's story in a new action-packed adventure. In the midst of a brutal war between demons and hunters, another battle entirely breaks out within Denji's heart when he meets a mysterious girl named Reze. Facing hidden enemies and fighting to retain his humanity, Denji prepares for the most dangerous battle he has faced yet.
