The wait is over! It's been confirmed that the anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) will have a third season and, for the first time, a theatrical film. The announcement came with a commemorative trailer for the series's 2nd anniversary, celebrating the continued success of the adaptation based on Natsu Hyuuga's light novel.
Season 3 Arrives in 2026 with an Unprecedented Story
The new arc of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto will feature two parts divided into two cours, with the first premiering in October 2026 and the second in April 2027. Directed by Akinori Fudesaka, who returns after the success of the second season. Now, the plot leaves the imperial palace and takes Maomao and Jinshi to the heart of the city, where they will face new intrigues and unexpected dangers.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Movie Premieres in December 2026
Additionally, the Kusuriya no Hitorigoto film will premiere in December 2026, with an all-new story written by the author himself, Natsu Hyuuga. Production will be in the hands of Noriyuki Naganuma, who directed and wrote the previous seasons.
Meanwhile, the franchise will also gain traveling exhibitions across Asia, starting in Hong Kong, as well as a major special screening in Japan in August 2026 featuring the main cast.
Finally, the commemorative video brings together the series' iconic openings, including “Hana ni Natte” (Ryokuoushoku Shakai) and “Kusushiki” (Mrs. GREEN APPLE), recalling the series' best moments.
