Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a sad story because the writer is from Poland

A few days ago, it was confirmed that the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime would be getting a sequel. As part of this, a lot of information was shared on social media. But one that left many stunned focuses on the first season. Those who have seen the anime know that sadness is one of the main themes. For this reason, writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor explained why they decided to have that kind of plot. However, the explanation left everyone speechless: the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is so sad because Sztybor is from Poland, and that country is very sad, according to him.

The sad story of the anime has a very bizarre explanation

While it's inherently odd that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is sad because the writer is from Poland, there's actually a deeper underlying theme, explained by Sztybor himself. He clarified it with the following line: “I'm from Poland. People in Poland are sad. They're born sad, they die sad, so I just wanted to make everyone feel sad… When people are sad, I'm a little happy.” As you can see, the idea that the anime is so dark and sad can be understood. As we know, in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners we have the loss of many of the main characters. There are even very few moments in which any of the protagonists experience happy moments. Fans are also saddened by the fact that they weren't afraid to eliminate beloved characters. Not only do we lose protagonist David Martinez, but other beloved faces, such as Rebecca, are brutally eliminated. While it doesn't heal the wound, at least fans know why Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is so sad.
